About The Station

Opened in 1962, and expanded over the years. The current location of Porirua Fire Station is Mungavin Avenue.

The Station Number is 31, with appliances numbered 311, 317, 312 and 3110.

 

 

 

 

Part of the Te-Upoko Fire District, it has a current career establishment of 37 staff working over four watches, and a volunteer unit of 19 members. As well as emergency calls, the station is responsible for breathing apparatus, rescue gear, hose and equipment for the Wellington Area.

TwoType 3 appliances, a Type 2 appliance and one 4WD vehicle are stationed there. While the primary response area is Porirua City, they can be responded to anywhere in the district, and have gone as far as Otaki.
